“Playing With Color” Workshop 2024, Kindiri, Chad

Clamra Celestin, back in Paris after the four day art workshop lead by him and David Hurson in Kindiri, Chad, that introduced 200 children to paints for the first time, speaks about their excitement.

“They have never worked with paint before, never seen color change from mixing. Some children completed a new picture each day and they shared them with their families. They are eager for more art! Because there is no art studio yet, children hold up their artwork plus it’s displayed from fences that delight the whole community and travelers.”

Kindiri is taking the lead, inspiring educators everywhere to publicize their students’ work.

Next stop, a potter to help children make and decorate calabashes from local clay. “We’ll have a pit-fired ceramic workshop with school children, teaching them the traditional technique of forging pots and jars by hollowing out and building walls from lumps of clay.” In addition to hiring a potter, Clamra would like to hire an artist to work with other teachers to show them how to infuse art into their classes.

Finally, GloCAP aspires to fund the building of a cement and tile art studio with benches, tables, storage and art supplies. If funding is successful, this is scheduled to open September 2025 and this will give students a place to showcase their art.
